All of our Faber Cylinders include standard Right Hand (RH) or Left Hand (LH) Blue Steel Pro Valves.

What is a Pro Valve?

A Pro Valve is a 200/232 BAR valve that includes a threaded DIN adapter which when removed makes the valve compatible with DIN style regulators. When the threaded DIN adapter is inserted, the valve is compatible with YOKE style regulators.

What is the difference between a 200/232 BAR and a 300 BAR valve?

A 200/232 BAR valve or manifold is compatible with both DIN and YOKE style regulators and is designed for use with all working pressures in Canada and the US. This rating of valve WILL accept a threaded DIN adapter making it more versatile.

A 300 BAR valve has more threads and is ONLY compatible with DIN style regulators. A threaded DIN adapter is NOT compatible with a 300 BAR valve. A 300 BAR valve is not required for any application outside of a cylinder rated for 300 BAR - which is primarily only seen in Europe. A 300 Bar valve will work, but is NOT required.

What is the difference between a standard valve and a long post valve (also called a manifold valve)?

The standard pro valve has a shorter post which generally contains the burst disk for the valve. On a long post or manifold valve, there is a threaded opening that is dessigned to receive a manifold / tee bar which often has an isolation valve in it. These are used to connect (manifold) a right and left cylinder together for building a twinset (two tanks). If not used with a manifold, these threaded openings must be plugged to prevent gas escaping.

Do I need a long post for sidemount diving?

No. While some sidemount divers prefer longer posts, the standard Blue Steel Pro Valve has more than enough length to secure the bungee when used for sidemount diving.

What do I need to setup a new set of twins?

If you would like to build a set of doubles you will need:

• Two matching cylinders
• One RH Manifold Valve
• One LH Manifold Valve
• An isolation tee (manifold)
• A set of cylinder bands and the hardware to assemble them (included with new bands)
• A backplate, harness and doubles wing with enough lift to support the cylinders you have chosen.

It is important to remember that valves and manifolds come in difference sizes, as do cylinder bands and doubles wings. So be sure you have compatible equipment before begining. If you are not sure, talk to us at Aquasub and we will make sure you have all the matching parts.
